Pedestrians of the world; Unite! Another world is possible.

People who walk instead of driving a car present solutions for people to emulate. A philosopher once said, “I walk, therefore I am”. With more fresh air than a car, or train, or most indoor areas, walking is a treat for your lungs, heart, and mind. With a direct connection to the plants and animals in the area, and the chance for an encounter with life is more possible on foot. A simple life includes walking to get what you need and want without technology and money. Often, it has much less risk than any other way to travel. The benefits of walking are not obvious to people who are conditioned to drive a vehicle. So, for them, it could be another little adventure to discover something simple that could transform life.

I walk and love to walk. I don’t need a car and like it that way. I used to own and use a car, but I haven’t used one in many years, perhaps it is an advantage, even though some people can’t imagine how to live without a car. The big reason why I can live without a car is because I live in an urban area set up for people to live without a car. For this, I am grateful. I pay more taxes than someone who lives in the country, but it is worth it. I don’t have to shovel snow to liberate my car after it snows. I don’t have all these big bills to pay. I have more freedom. The car commercials make people think that cars are like nature and cars give you freedom. For me, it is the opposite. The cars destroy people, plants, and animals. They are very dangerous and kill many people and injure many more. I don’t see why people would want to use a car. Walking is way beyond driving and a big challenge for those who can’t imagine how anyone can live without a car.

Walking is the most sustainable way to move people and goods. Requiring very little infrastructure, walking offers benefits not possible in a car, or on transit.
